Engineering approach

Software engineering for complex, data-intensive domains.

I work where domain knowledge, data engineering, and production software meet. My role is to turn specialized scientific or operational needs into systems that are reliable, understandable, and maintainable.

That means owning more than implementation: clarifying requirements, shaping architecture, building data pipelines, operating infrastructure, and making pragmatic trade-offs with researchers, engineers, and decision-makers.

Systems architecture

Designing boundaries, APIs, data models, and deployment paths that can evolve with research.

Data-intensive computing

Building reliable pipelines across geospatial, scientific, and live sensor data.

Infrastructure ownership

Operating GPU, HPC, storage, container, and cloud environments - not just writing application code.

Product-minded delivery

Turning ambiguous domain needs into maintainable software used by researchers and operators.

Experience

  1. ETH Zurich

    Scientific Programmer

Leading GIS and remote-sensing workflows for forest science, including processing the nationwide SWISSIMAGE orthophoto mosaic at 10-25 cm ground resolution and high-resolution drone imagery. Building reproducible geospatial analytics, AI, and HPC pipelines with QGIS and ArcGIS.

  2. Colomba Link GmbH

    Co-founder & CEO

Built Monidas for industrial IoT and CollMap for collaborative geospatial decisions; led funded R&D from prototype through production.

  3. Biognosys

    Bioinformatics Engineer

Modernized proteomics algorithms, GPU infrastructure, and automated release validation.

  4. DNAnexus

    Software Engineer Intern

Shipped backend features for a cloud genomics platform processing petabyte-scale data.

  5. Genentech

Beyond the day job

Four consecutive BaselHack weekends

I enjoy the compressed creativity of a hackathon: new teammates, unfamiliar domains, very little sleep, and a working prototype by Sunday.

    Participant

    Schwitzerländ

    Freestyle · Adaptive fitness planner

Built an AI-assisted workout planner with natural-language plan generation, exercise tracking, and a full-stack React and FastAPI architecture.

  2. BaselHack 2024

    Participant

    NAVBÄR

    Sponsored challenge · PAX

Built a bilingual conversational search prototype that helps people navigate PAX insurance conditions and understand product coverage.

  3. BaselHack 2023

    Challenge winner

    MeetingMunch

    Sponsored challenge · Endress+Hauser

Built a preference- and availability-based lunch-matching prototype and won the Endress+Hauser Lunch-Date Randomizer challenge.

  4. BaselHack 2022

    3rd place

    Passmate

    Freestyle · Offline-first password manager

Built an offline-first password manager with a cross-functional team and placed third in the Freestyle track.
